Structured Cable Systems

All Day long every day now we are bombarded with advertisements about the new Broadband Internet Services just becoming available in the area. Cable One Cable Modem, US West DSL, WBS Wireless, and our own  All Tech Systems Broadband Satellite  services to name a few.

Nearly every home built today has a "Home Office" area and/or a Kitchen computer desk location. Anyone not connected to the Internet is living in the dark ages! Most new homeowners have more than one computer, and nearly everyone wants to be able to "Network" their computers.

Due to the abundance of High Tech companies and their employees relocating to the area, everyone building a new home is cognizant, and more and more are even demanding, the installation of a High Tech Wiring system in their new home.

Direct Satellite Service, Digital Cable Programming and Wireless Cable services are all available now in the Treasure Valley.  Entertainment equipment such as DVD and Surround Sound are common place in every home.  These new services require more telephone lines and a number of Video coaxial cables be run from the rooftop or Minidish location into the home.  Thus the need for High tech Video and Telecom distribution becomes necessary.

With the growing population there is unfortunately also a growing incidence of Crime. Thus the need for Security is becoming more important as well.

The Structured Cable System is the "backbone wiring" pulling all of these different services together.  All of the Outside Service wiring is run to a "Gateway" box in a closet or utility room.  From there wiring is individually run to each wall outlet.  This "Star" topology allows every outside service to be available at every wall outlet in the home.  Additionally, a "dual coaxial" video network allows locally generated video such as a DVD or Digital Cable signal to be re-distributed throughout the Home to every outlet. For any or all of these new services to operate properly in a home, the need for a Structured Wiring System has become Imperative! Structured wiring systems are no longer a "High Tech" add on that can be added to an upgraded home. Nor are they something you offer to the "High Tech" sector home buyers. They are now just as much a commodity as indoor plumbing. In fact a Home built today without a Structured Cable system, is an obsolete home! So take another look at the list of services described above. If any one of those services will be used by you or your Homeowner, then you need Structured Cable.

Definition

Structured Cable systems are defined by a Telecommunications Industry Standard Called TIA 570A. This Standard has been established in an attempt to standardize the wiring of new homes for the new services available today. The topology as well as the product and material specifications and the physical and mechanical installation of the wiring and equipment are all defined by this standard. Simply purchasing and installing Category 5 cable in place of the older types of telephone wire used, in the same old manner, and daisy chained rather than home run, by a contractor not TIA certified, does not qualify as a Structured Cable System, nor as "upgraded" or "High Tech" wiring.  Nor will this wiring perform as a Structured Cable System. An installation not guided by the TIA standard, nor installed by a certified skilled technician, is certain to cause disappointment to a new homeowner expecting a High tech wiring system.
